Torontonians split for new casino proposal

According to a recent Ipsos Reid poll, the results found that 54% of Torontonians would support the idea of a new casino in the city, while 47% would oppose it.  The poll was conducted in March which sampled 810 people in Toronto.

The poll also found that 59% of Torontonians would have a positive economic impact on the city.  Another part of the survey found that if the casino were part of a larger establishment that included restaurants, stores, hotels and entertainment then 37% of residents would be more supportive.

MGM Resorts International, which is behind some of the biggest casinos in Las Vegas, best known for gambling destinations including, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage and Bellagio.  The company expressed interest in building a multibillion dollar casino and resort.  This would include hotels, restaurants, spas and convention facilities.

MGM’s inquiries are in the beginning stages and the company stated that it is not interested in a small project.
